Human Resource Philosophy

Driven by the need to forge ahead in a dynamic environment, Tuas Power’s human resource strategies are focused on building a competent and healthy workforce that synergises effectively to overcome challenges and contribute to the long-term growth of the Company.

Training and Development Opportunities

To ensure that we remain at the leading edge of technology and the forefront of the energy evolution in Singapore, Tuas Power has a Total Company Training Plan for all staff to help them enhance their work performance and maximise their potential. This plan involves identifying the training needs of each employee through a Training Needs Analysis process and sending the employee to attend relevant local and overseas training programs, seminars and conferences that would be beneficial in improving his or her core competencies and expanding his or her knowledge. We also give out education grants to encourage employees to upgrade themselves.

Work-life balance

A healthy and happy workforce is crucial to the success of our businesses. Through its family oriented policies and health programmes, Tuas Power encourages its employees to achieve good work-life balance and maintain good health. For instance, the Company offers flexible working arrangements to help employees balance their work and family commitments. It also organises free health screening and health talks to help staff be more conscious of their health conditions.

Open Communication

Tuas Power believes that one of the key ways to engage its employees is through open communication. The Company holds an annual CEO-Staff Forum, during which the President and Chief Executive Officer would share the Company’s performance and its strategic directions with all the employees. Regular Coffee Meet sessions are also conducted. These are essentially skip-level meetings that allow employees to discuss their concerns openly and directly with the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Tuas Power holds monthly union meetings with the Union of Power and Gas Employees (UPAGE) to discuss and resolve employee related matters. These meetings fortify our management’s relationship with UPAGE and offer another platform for the employees to voice their concerns.
