Health, Safety & Environment

Health, safety and environment are crucial to our success. As such, Tuas Power employs comprehensive measures that are reviewed on a regular basis. These contributed to another year of good safety record.

A safe workplace

Tuas Power was successfully re-certified to the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Assessment Series for another three years by SGS International Certification Services (S) Pte Ltd in March 2008. This is testament to our strong commitment to protect our workforce by providing a healthy and risk-free working environment.

In June 2007, the first batch of carefully selected departmental safety champions were trained and appointed to conduct one-on-one behavioural observation and feedback sessions under the behavioural-based safety (BBS) process. The aim is to coach our workforce to work safely and reduce at-risk behaviours in the workplace.

Site assessments

We commissioned Environmental Resource Management (S) Pte Ltd in August 2007 to conduct an environmental, health and safety site assessment of Tuas Power Station. Subsequently, we commissioned Setsco Services Pte Ltd to carry out an environmental baseline soil investigation of the land occupied by Tuas Power Station. This was conducted between November 2007 and January 2008.

Both evaluations concluded that the Tuas Power Station premises comply with regulatory guidelines and are able to ensure the well-being of our employees and the environment.
